Kelly Ray, Esq., Vice President, Core Knowledge, Open Compliance and Ethics Group (OCEG®), has dedicated the last 19 years to improving shareholder value through corporate legal, ethics and compliance programs by optimizing operational design, process improvement, legal services and technology. Kelly practiced law for 11 years initially in a prestigious multi-national law firm with over 800 attorneys and then in-house for a Fortune 500 DSP and analog semiconductor, sensors & controls, and educational & productivity solutions manufacturer with 34,800 employees in more than 25 countries. As an attorney, Kelly has developed and deployed business and systems policies, procedures, processes, guidelines and manuals for the compliance and ethics function. Kelly has designed, delivered and presented both online and live compliance training courses together with designing learning management programs. While maintaining her license to practice law, Kelly established herself as an authority on enabling technology solutions for the legal and compliance areas. Kelly has integrated or adapted existing systems and implemented new systems that support the execution and management of compliance. Kelly was an integral team member in designing and developing PricewaterhouseCooper’s integrated governance, risk and compliance service offering, where she specialized in strategic planning, project portfolio and roadmap development, and technology enablement. In short, Kelly has been advising corporations on establishing compliance, risk and ethics programs since 1992.
Kelly received her juris doctorate from University of California, Los Angeles School of Law and a bachelor of science in communication studies and completed all educational requirements for a second degree in computer studies from Northwestern University. Kelly’s most recent publication is the Helpline/Hotline Guide from the Open Compliance and Ethics Group. Prior publications include the PricewaterhouseCoopers & Legal Research Center Knowledge Management Study: An In-Depth Look Into the Current Use and Future Trends of KM in the Legal Profession, in collaboration with Legal Research Center, Inc. and the Legal Technology Institute at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Kelly has also taught on a variety of topics including knowledge management, expert systems, informational needs for governance, risk and compliance, and technology strategy.
